R.I.P. Walter Cronkite
There was obviously no one like him before, and there was no one like him after.
Good network journalism died a long time ago, but it doesn't make Cronkite's death any less symbolic. Of course, Americans don't care. They don't want news. They want Bill O'Reilly and Keith Olbermann. And that's the way it is.
Read this, it's a nice look back.

This country is in crisis and instead of offering anything on the serious issue that Obama went into great detail on last night, we've got multiple posts on an issue that has nothing to do with anything important whatsoever, namely, health care.
Nice.
Cronkite, your night out, and two Palin posts... Nice!
Man you are too young to remember Walter.
He was always very boring. I always watched ABC news with Frank Reynolds. Then they had Harry Reasoner and BaBa WaWa. Man that was great. It was like watching a soon to divorce couple read the news.
"So President Nixon will be visiting China this week and you have some details Harry."
"Yes the details I have is that you ruined my fucking life you cunt...... Oh and here is some film with Peter Jennings reporting from Shanghai.
ZPS Alhouse is getting Married today .. get your ass over there pronto.
Its the Cur Knee post.
(just in case you dont know .. you probably do but just in case)
Hey, you haven't post in a week. Are things OK?
Make that a month.
Maybe Sire was Walter Cronkite and this last post was put up by the executors of his estate.
